Education and Faith Formation

At Trinity, we feel strongly that Christian Education and faith development are both lifelong and closely related to worship and mission; we learn about who God is through worship, and we grow in faith through reaching out to others.

Our Sunday morning classes align with the teachings of the Sunday service, and we often involve kids in worship, where they may share what they’ve been learning, assist with worship in some fashion, or provide music.  We often involve kids in mission, as they assist with putting together backpacks for food insecure kids, or delivering the items we collect to support refugees, or in our Intergenerational Workcamp at Woodberry Crossing, where we engage in daily “Spiritual pauses” where we integrate the work we are doing with scriptural teachings.   In the summer, we hold a story-based, often “home grown” Vacation Bible School in cooperation with Scotia Reformed Church.

We hold Confirmation Class every few years, when we have enough kids of the right age (generally early High School) to make a group; once again the learning style is participative, and the students are encouraged to participate in church activities and reflect on their faith throughout.

Youth group varies in size and frequency of meetings; often we combine with other churches, and, as with other aspects of our Christian Education, is mostly experiential and fellowship building.

Adults engage together in a variety of learning activities:  both the Women’s Spirituality and a Men’s Group hold regular book studies, and we also occasionally have groups that are for everyone, especially when there is a particular theme we are exploring as a congregation.
